Mumbai University - KT

Engineering Is Alot Of Lein Dein

What is a KT?

The Minimum passing percent for Mumbai University is 40%
  • 8 Marks for the Unit or Internal Tests (20).
  • 10 Marks for Practical Exams and File Submissions (25 Each).
  • 32 Marks For the Semester Exam (80).

KT is Short for ATKT which is Allowed To Keep Term.

If you were unable to score 40% or didn’t give enough of a Fuck to study enough to clear a subject, the situation you find yourself in is known as a KT.

What to do when I have a KT?

What you do, when you have a KT all depends on how you have written your paper:
  • If you think your paper went well and you haven’t got the marks you deserve. you should apply for a Revaluation or Reval.
  • On the other hand, if you knew right away after coming out of the paper that you were not going to make it. you should apply to appear for the KT paper, sit, and study for it, and clear it in the next semester.

Is there a limit to the number of KTs I can carry?
There sure as hell is.
  • The Maximum number of Internal KTs you can carry is 3
  • This includes Practical Exams that you failed
  • The Maximum number of External KTs you can carry is 5.
  • These can be in any combination of allowable semesters (i.e. 2 from Sem 1, 3 From Sem 2)

The catch is that you can carry any amount of KTs within an Academic Year.

So, if you fail every exam in Semester 1 you will still be sent to Semester 2, where you must give the KT exams, but to be promoted to the next academic year you need to clear enough exams to be within the Number of KTs allowed.

What is a Golden KT?

  • 1st Year KTs cannot be carried to the 3rd Academic Year.
  • The Last Chance to clear a 1st year KT is the 4th Semester.
  • 2nd Year KTs cannot be carried to the 4th Academic Year.
  • The Last Chance to clear a 2nd year KT is the 6th Semester.

If you find yourself in a situation having a 1st year KT remaining in Sem 4 or a 2nd year KT remaining in Sem 6. You, my friend, have a Golden KT.
The Golden KT is the Last Chance you have, to clear the KT.

Golden Ticket To A Drop.

What to do if I have more than the Allowable KTs while applying to the new Academic year?

OR

What if I cannot clear my Golden KT?

Sadly, the situation you find yourself in is called a Drop Year or a Drop. Mumbai University is very strict when it comes to the number of allowable KTs.Your Hope is to submit your paper you Reval and Apply for Provisional Admission.

Mumbai University - Submission, Practical and Internal KTs

Please Don't Be Them

What are Submissions and why are they so important?

In Mumbai University Your Term Work File is worth 25 marks and is the one place your teacher has the most control over you.

According to the New Rules, the correction of the file is divided into 3 sections:
  • 3 Marks for Punctuality (i.e. how punctual you were with your submissions).
  • 3 Marks for Content (i.e. what you have filled your assignment with, or like Apsara says “extra marks for good handwriting”).
  • 4 Marks for Knowledge (Yeh 🔔 Hota Hai, this also Usually depends on how much the professor likes your face or Kitna Tuhmne Professor ki 👅 Hai).
Submission are important cause it’s one of the biggest reasons people get a Drop. Taking Unnecessary Panga with a teacher or just Lack of Attendance can cause the Teacher to not accept your Term Work. This Situation is called a Null and Void and results in a Drop.

The teacher will mostly call your parents and tumhaari aur tumhare parents ki izzat ki maa *******. It's better to be regular in your submission to avoid this situation.

Avengers Assemble

What are the Different Internal Exams?

Mumbai University Colleges have 2 Unit tests Exams, each Worth 20 marks. While marking you an average of these 2 midterms exams is considered.

To clear your Internal Exam, you need to score a minimum average of 8 Marks. The average of 8 can be achieved in multiple ways
Test 1: 16                                                              Test 1: 8
Test 2: 0                                                                Test 2: 8
Average: 8                                                            Average: 8

Engineering is a conundrum of multiple subjects. Not all to your liking and say you find yourself stuck with a subject you are having nightmares of clearing getting a total of 14.5/40 is what you should aim for, it comes to an average of 7.25 which is rounded off to 8 (I twice have managed to reach this golden number and would advise you to NOT RELY ON IT FOR EVERY EXAM). Study and clear your internals they are not as hard as you think they are.

Practical Exam and Viva. Your practical exam is worth 15 marks and Viva worth 10 marks which add up to 25 marks.

To clear your practical, you need to score 10 marks out of 25 in total.

What Is an Internal KT?

The Situation where you fail to:
  • Score an average of 8 marks in your Units
  • Collectively score above 10 marks in your Viva + Practical.
Is called an Internal KT.

What to do if I have an Internal KT?

If you have an Internal KT, you must give it next semester.
Like External KTs the catch is that you can carry any amount of KTs within an Academic Year but to be promoted to the next academic year you need to clear enough exams to be within the Number of KTs allowed.
Internal Exams are not such big of a deal, Teachers usually give marks liberally.
In the case that you got one, requesting the teacher to pass you is one thing you should try. Try going to the teacher when you know it will just be the both of you. If you have written something in the paper, 1 and .5 marks per paper maybe are enough to save your internal KT.

Is there a way to clear my Internal KT without appearing for it?

Good News, Yes There is, but it's only applicable to a KT in your Units and not Practical Exams
To clear your Internal KT, The Total of the marks you received in your External and Internal should be 50.
Explaining it in Short,
Unit 1: 2 Marks
Unit 2: 5 Marks
Average: 3.5 = 4 Marks
Hence to clear your Internal you need 46 Marks In your External.

Passing your Internal KT through this method is only viable for the semester in which you have got the Internal KT. Say you get both an Internal and External in the same paper and don’t clear your Internal KT exam the following Sem this route shall not be an option to clear you Internal through your External KT.

When Should I Apply for a Photocopy?

Consider you’ve written a paper well, but have received fewer marks than you expected.
A Photocopy is a solution to see how your paper was corrected.
Remember the person who is Correcting Your Paper is human, not only is he under stress but he’s given a fuck load of answer sheets to correct in a day. In such situations, miscalculation and mistakes may take place.
If you come across any such error when you go through you photocopy you should talk to your exam cell in a calm manner. They will be very happy to help you out.

How to Apply for photocopy?

Depending on whom conducts your examination your photocopy will either be lying in the Exam Cell or Will have been e-mailed to you.
Regularly check both these places.

What is Revaluation?

Revaluation is the biggest scam in Mumbai University, Their Biggest moneymaker, A Pure Racket.
Revaluation is also a Gable. Let me break it down for you.
Revaluation is Exactly what the name means, it means the Re-Valuation of your exam papers.
When You Apply for it your corrected Answer Paper is Whitened (i.e. the previous corrector's markings are whitewashed) and a new Examiner shall correct your paper.
Revaluation examiner are usually lovely people who know the responsibility on their shoulder and will shower marks if you have written something. Anything.

PLEASE MAKES SURE YOUR PAPER IS FILLED, IT MIGHT BE IRRELEVANT BUT IT COUNTS A LOT DURING REVAL CORRECTION.

Coming back to the topic, the Marks given by the Examiner will be enough to Pass you in the case you’ve filled your Paper.
He or She will at least bring you to 24 marks to be applicable for Grace.

When to Apply for Revaluation?

  • Considering you failed in a subject but were sure you had written enough to pass; you can give your paper for Reval.
  • Anyone unhappy with the marks they’ve receive can also apply for their papers to be corrected again.

Is there a Criteria for Revaluation?

Yes, You need above 7 marks to apply for Reval.

How Should I Apply for Revaluation?

Remember when I said Revaluation is the biggest scam happening in MU?

Just like you go to your college and fill the Photocopy form.
Revaluation has its own form that needs to be filled. The form must be submitted with the Xerox of the question paper of the Subject, you’re applying revaluation in, along with a modest fee of only Rs.500 per paper.

How long does it take for the revaluation results to come out?

Remember when I said that Reval is the biggest Scam in MU? (LOL)

So, one of the reasons Revaluation is the Gamble is that sometimes in very few cases the result comes after the KT paper, and on most occasions after the last date to apply for the KT Examination.

So, it’s a humble request to apply for the KT paper nonetheless. The Fees are Refundable if you Clear the Revaluation.

Coming Back to the Topic Revaluation Marks take 2-3-4 weeks. It's unpredictable
The marks can be found on this website:

I would advise you to stalk this website like mechanical student stalk …. Well … Girls.

I Have Passed and want to Apply For Reval to Increase my Marks?

Bhai Mat Kar Yaar
Revaluation a gamble.
I had a friend who had got 50+ in a subject and wanted more marks, he applied for Reval and was given a KT.

Kalina ke Do Chakar Khaane pade Bichaare ko.

But still, if you feel you want to try your luck or you’re sure you’ll get more marks I'll add this for you and hope you do get the marks you deserve.

If you fail in the Revaluation you can use the Ordinance 5048-A of Mumbai University.
There is a clause in it stating that in such a situation you can request your principle to request the Vice Chancellor for a 3rd correction of your examination paper. If your principle grants your request and the vice chancellor grants the principles request, then a corrector will be resourced to your paper, he will be informed of how big a chutya you were and in all knowledge shall correct your questions paper. All you can do is go to every mosque, church and Temple and pray you he passes you cause that was the last card you had and his say will be the last say
If any of you want any clarification or have a grievance, you can go here:
